Chinese Domestics in Freefall

No China watcher can have missed the recent and rapid rise in Covid cases: 5280 at the March 15 count.    
          Those same watchers will no doubt have noted the concentration of cases in the “remote” north eastern province of Jilin but also in the much nearer to commercial home city of Shenzhen.    
         

With 37 million Chinese citizens now locked down, still only a tiny proportion of the total, questions are being asked about GDP growth and supply chain ramifications.
 
          This paper focuses on the probable effects on domestic flights in the short-term with a slight reference to international travel.
